Automated ATM Key Injection & ANSI TR-31 Key Block Management
Securely provisioning Terminal Master Keys (TMK) to ATMs and POS devices using public key cryptography and key blocks.
ANSI TR-31 Key Block Implementation
FinancialHSM wraps all payment keys using ANSI TR-31 Key Blocks (and ISO 20038). Each key block includes authenticated headers specifying key usage (e.g. PIN encryption only, no data decryption), algorithm type, and exportability, preventing unauthorized cryptographic reuse.
Remote Key Loading via Asymmetric Cryptography
Using RSA public key infrastructure compliant with ANSI X9.24-2, FinancialHSM authenticates ATM identities and securely delivers encrypted Terminal Master Keys over TLS connections, eliminating costly armored-car technician visits.
- Remote Key Loading (RKL): Securely injecting initial terminal master keys over network links without physical technician visits.
- ANSI TR-31 Key Blocks: Binding cryptographic key usage attributes directly to ciphertext to prevent algorithm substitution.
- X9.24 DUKPT Initialization: Generating unique initial derivation keys (IK) for millions of retail POS terminals.
- Automated Key Rollover: Cryptographically rotating terminal master keys annually according to PCI PIN guidelines.
