High-Speed PIN Block Translation: ISO 9564 Formats 0, 1, 3, and 4

Translating encrypted PIN blocks between acquiring and issuing networks without ever decrypting PINs into host memory.

The Mechanics of In-Enclave PIN Translation

When a cardholder enters a PIN at an ATM or POS terminal, it is encrypted under a terminal key (PEK). FinancialHSM decrypts the incoming PIN block inside a physically shielded coprocessor register, immediately reformats and re-encrypts it under the acquiring bank's Zone Master Key (ZPK), ensuring plain-text PIN data never touches server RAM or OS buses.

Migrating to AES ISO 9564 Format 4

With legacy Triple-DES being phased out under PCI mandates, FinancialHSM delivers high-throughput hardware support for AES-based ISO 9564 Format 4 PIN blocks, providing 256-bit cryptographic strength for modern payment networks.
